Has my diet gone too far?
Okay, so I'm a huge food lover and I genuinely think I have gone through phases of an overeating disorder through my life.
I've always been unhappy with the way I look, since I was maybe 12 or 13 and I am borderline overweight, so a couple of weeks ago I decided to start a diet where my intake has been halved and I avoid foods like chocolate, pizza, chips etc (All foods I really like). I've already lost a few pounds and I'm feeling quite happy about myself and I know I am healthier.
However, my parents a few nights ago asked me if I wanted to go out for something to eat and I felt genuinely scared. I don't know what about, but I knew there would be high-calorie foods there such as pizzas and pasta and I just didn't trust myself to be around them, so I passed and spent the night alone with a small piece of smoked fish and vegetables at home.
Since then, I've really started to notice myself doing this, and I''m struggling to be around certain foods and have found myself avoiding situations where they might be there. I've also started cutting my intake even further which I know I shouldn't do but I just feel like I need to. Even if I do have the odd treat, I feel so guilty for the rest of the night and I'm getting worried that its taking over.
Is this normal? Have you ever been in a similar situation?
    Please help!

    Hii,
Sorry that you feel so awful towards yourself.
Firstly, im sorry to say but this isnt exactly normal. Yes, people go on diets but they do not become panicked and fear being around food & they enjoy "cheat" days or do not completely limit the food they are allowed.
I am guessing that since your food intake has been cut again that you are no longer eating near the RDA or the RDA for a diet. This will have an extreme negative effect on your moods and you will find social situations becoming difficult as you just wont have the energy, plus your brain needs enough food for it to think rational.
I have suffered from an Eating Disorder since the age of 13, i am now 21. I am a recovered Anorexic after spending times in specialist units & i am now a recovering Bulimic. So i understand how food can completely consume your life.
My advice would be to talk to your friends and family, stress your concerns to them. Think about whether you medically need to lose weight, are you healthy? Would toning up benefit you more etc?
with regards to your diet you could go on websites such as the special K website and they offer daily plans on how you can lose weight but not become obsessed.
Its natural to treat yourself and indulge sometimes, i myself have learnt that!

I know exactly what your going through. I started this milshake/soup diet about 4months ago and I fouyou and myself avoiding birthday parties and gatherings because of the wide selection of food that was on my list as "not allowed."

But hun, you are doing well with the small portion of meat and veg. You should NOT NOT NOT NOT feel guilty at all. Everyone in this world is allowed a treat and no one should be ridiculed for doing so. You need to shed yourself off all guilt as of this moment, and become guilt free. Why? because you have doing nothing wrong

Diets are a tough thing, and in this day age I know that there is a huge pressure to be thin. But can I just say that women in this world, all shapes and sizes, are SEXAAAYYY and you dont have to starve or cut down on food to feel beautiful. However, if you do want to lose weight, do it the RIGHT WAY.

Maybe 20-30 min cardio about 4-5 times a week.

DONT CUT DOWN ON FOOD ANYMORE. I DID THAT AND I WAS IN WEST MID HOSPITAL FOR 2 days! Its not worth it babe!!!

What your feeling is normal, but its also psychological? You can change your thoughts...be strong

Personal message me if you want and we can talk xx

Hi congratulations on being strong and fighting through your eating disorder. I may not know you but this insight into your life makes you an inspiration to me.
I have also feared food in ways, but Ive been positively thinking otherwise I would have a break down.
I really do bow to your strength, because I know how hard it must have been x

I'm not sure two weeks of dieting really equals a problem, but if you're worried then why not have a think about whether your calorie intake is too low, maybe rather than having a maximum or just trying to eat as few calories as possible set yourself a band that you try to hit (i.e. try to eat no more than x but no less than y calories). There are plenty of online calculators to set a guideline, or you can always talk to your local health centre for advice.

You should try and remind yourself that this should be a long term thing. Rather than thinking about cutting your diet down as best as possible and avoiding all 'junk' food, try and think about slowly improving your diet. If all you ate was 'junk' food before, and now you just have it every so often, then it's an improvement and you should feel good.

look on the positive side; you have very strong will power to stick to your diet so ur less likely to have calorific foods, or if you do, as a treat, it will have no affect.
secondly, this does not seem safe, or healthy - if i were you, i'd see your doctor.
i have also been trying to lose weight, but i see my doctor reguarly to track my progress - thus making me feel better about myself and more able to have a treat now and again, and it makes sure i'm doing it a manner that is both physically and mentally healthy.
talk to your doctor and he/she will help you
you seem to be worried that if you have a bit of treat, you wont be able to contol yourself or all your hard work will be undone - but i promise, it won't - you have the will power not to let that happen.
also treat yourself to a tiny amount of dark (70%) chocolate - it is a treat, and in small amounts it is actually benificial - its good for your heart and has vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants.
but definitely go see your doctor.

have you tried writing down everything you eat in the day and working out how many calories there are?
That what I've done and I often actually have enough for a little bit of chocolate as a treat every now and then.
Make sure you're doing some exercise too and don't go over the top on restricting everything. I've lost 8lb since last month and I'm still having the odd little bit of chocolate here and there You can do it! Just have a positive attitude.
