Doing Econ at university with poor GCSE's
Hi,
OK, so I'm currently on a gap year having completed my GCSE's last year. I did rubbish in my GCSE exams only picking up 5x C's and the rest being lower grades.
I'm about to study for my A Levels this year and I'm determined more then ever to obtain high grades through sheer hard work so that I can eventually enter university to study economics.
My question is, if I was to obtain high grades at A-Level (i.e. AAA) would I be seriously hampered on what university I can apply to as a result of my GCSE's?
P.S. I don't intend going to Oxbridge and would be realistically looking at somewhere like Southampton or York.Last edited by japarker; 23-05-2012 at 11:11. -
Re: Doing Econ at university with poor GCSE's
It'll be really tough.
I personally chose to go for maths/economics courses because I had better proof of strengths there and most universities will let me transfers to the econ course after a year. Do your best at a level so you have no regrets that way you can't go wrong. -
Re: Doing Econ at university with poor GCSE'sIm just wondering how did you write your personal statement and what things did you do as well to enhance it because my GCSE grades are like yours, and so far my AS grades are like yours aswell. But the only thing that I think would bring me down would be my personal statement. I am going to start writing mine soon (im in year 12), could you give me any tips?(Original post by TheUltimateProof)
