    Is this a date?
Ok, so I know this guy vaguely through friends. We've both been out drinking together with big groups of people and on those occasions we've chatted and got on fine. Then about a month ago he started chatting to me on facebook and asked me out for coffee, which we did and it was nice - we ended it with a hug and exchanged numbers. Fast forward to earlier today. We've not spoken to eachother since the coffee and I get a text from him asking if I want to meet up again. We've arranged to go to the cinema tomorrow.

I'm just a bit confused right now. I mean, I don't know him all that well so is this a date? I'm reluctant to call it a date in case I'm reading it totally wrong. I just don't know!!

its one of those no-one knows things. it seems like he fancies you, but doesn't want to call it a date officially incase it isn't reciprocated/ he is shy. you could ask a mutual friend if they know anything. i would say 'kind of' - maybe an unoffical date thing. but not something that is categorically a date date. i've been in a similar situation so i know how it feels.
    um hope that helps?

Thanks, yeah I guess it is just one of those confusing half date situations. Hmmm.

I'm not sure if I like him in that way or not. He's a nice guy and we get on well... but then I'm not totally sure I'm into guys anyway - I say I'm bisexual but a big part of me thinks I'm actually gay. Anyway, I guess I'll just see how it goes tomorrow.

If he doesn't try anything physical then you can just regard it as spending time with a good friend I guess?

Yeah, I guess. It's just strange 'cause I mean, we really don't know eachother that well. Maybe he is just being friendly. Hmm. Why is dating so complicated?? Lol.

Aha well it's weird, my ex used to be really friendly before we got together, I was like wtf is happening, why're we spending so much time together already?!?! *confused* and then I just found myself falling for her. Even weirder cause now I've found myself becoming so much more friendly too, I go out a lot with girls on their own and I'm just worried one day they're going to feel like I'm leading them on or something and get a bit annoyed but I genuinly enjoy their company and it's always different when you're alone so urgh maybe I should be a little bit more reserved..not sure.

Either way there's no harm in this, you could watch how he behaves, maybe if he's trying to get a bit more intimate/initiating romantic moments...o.O Let us know how it goes if you want

Ahh that's interesting. But I suppose as long as you're not acting flirty with them and stuff then it wouldn't be your fault if they thought you were leading them on. If I remember, I'll fill you in on what happened at the cinema tomorrow

Hi, just thought I should update you. It was definately a date. He paid for my cinema ticket, then took me out to dinner afterwards and we've been on two more dates since. I think I'm falling for him, and it's lovely to have a guy treat me with respect - it's not something I'm used to. I'm really excited to see where this relationship will take us!! =D Thank you for all your advice!!

this is one of them situations where you are both going on a date, you are both aware it is a date, but if either of you uses the word 'date' it will result in awkwardness.

I know right?? I've never had this kind of thing with anyone before. I feel like I've known him forever and I can completely be myself with him. And when he kisses me it's like it means something. Like I'm worth something

I think it's a date, you could test the theory by mentioning that a friend wants to come and seeing his reaction.
