Should be fine though! Studied L'Etranger and La Haine.
What did you get last yr and how was ur speaking this yr? -
Re: WJEC FN4 Exam 19/06/20121 or 2 marks off a B overall last year. My speakings have gone quite well this year, i've been doing past AS papers and it's a breeze. The A2 isn't that bad, it's just the essay that i'm finding difficult.(Original post by ned6494)

I just did the Spanish WJEC exam yesterday, was HORRIFIC. I am not sure if French will be entirely the same.

Re: WJEC FN4 Exam 19/06/2012
Hi guys,
So I'm doing this exam next week, with 'Amelie' as my essay topic. My teachers' methods of essay feedback this year has been really frustrating - they're both lovely people, French natives, and excellent teachers, but they've really struggled to communicate to me where I'm going wrong on my essays. Saying that, the marks haven't been bad... I've pretty much been on the B/A boundary, and more recently have been hitting the A, but only with about 37 marks. They have said that they mark really harshly, and that they don't think that anyone else will mark as harshly as they do, which is fine (I'd rather that they were under-marking rather than over-marking) but it's still very annoying.
The problem isn't really with my grasp of the language - they have said that that's really improved during the year, as you would hope that it would. Rather, they seem to be incredibly pedantic with regards to ideas and the way the essay 'flows' (to use their wording). This confuses me, because I also do History and English Lit, which are similar in terms of essay writing and analysis, and I've been getting A*s in these all year. I've spent ages writing multiple essays for them, and every time the mark is pretty much the same and there's something else wrong with it; it seems to me that if I present an idea which doesn't quite fit the ones which they've come up with, (bearing in mind that they've watched the film about 324583729 times) or I don't explain or analyse it in a certain way then I lose marks. Whereas I feel that the mark scheme dictates that as long as you're coming up with interesting ideas, and are analysing them well, then you should hit the levels. I'm not really looking to get 44 or 45, but would appreciate understanding how to be hitting a solid A (so like, 40).
Basically, I'm aware that this might just be my teachers. I'm inclined to think that it probably is, and like I said before, I'd prefer for them to be doing this than making me think that I'm fine when I'm not, and they obviously won't be marking my exam. But is there anyone out there who's either:
a) got a brilliant teacher who's given them great advice for essay writing (we haven't been given much guidance on structure for example, or what WJEC are looking for in say, introductions) or...
b) has been hitting solid A's and would be willing to send me one of their essays so I can compare with what I've been doing (preferably if you're doing 'Amelie')
Sorry for the massive comment - any help would be appreciated. Hope revision's going well

Re: WJEC FN4 Exam 19/06/2012Well revision for the rest of the exam is fine, I know all the vocab and grammar is fine, the only revision I have done for Amelie is learning some vocab and have learnt 3 possible essays, which are raymond and Amelie, theme of fairy tales and the theme of childhood, I have a feeling (well I hope) that Raymond will come up as the question of relationships, what do you think?(Original post by verityhawley)

Re: WJEC FN4 Exam 19/06/2012
I need an A overall, I'm not too stressed about it, I'm fairly confident. I did 'Les Choristes' and 'La Haine' in class, although I'll almost certainly do an essay on 'Les Choristes', because 'La Haine' is one of the worst films I've ever seen and I really can't be arsed revising it.
