Science Po (in Dijon)
Is anybody currently studying in any of the Science Po international campuses (especially Dijon?) ? I would like to apply for the undergraduate degree there, and I´m trying to figure out how much that would cost me. There is some info on the official website, but I´m not quite sure how real it is, considering not only the fees and lodging, but also the books, food, transport etc. Thx a lot.

Re: Science Po (in Dijon)
Hi I'm Jana, a student at the Sciences Po campus in Menton (I also have a friend at the campus in Dijon who can offer some advice). If you live in the EU it costs a maximum of €9000 but if you have both parents/siblings the price can decrease (I pay €4000ish). If you live outside of the EU you pay a set 9000€. The lodging is normally around €300 a month, transport is pretty cheap around France, food is a bit more maybe €150-200 a month, books depends on the teacher either you get given a set of photocopies otherwise it can normally be €40 per class. You can contact me whenever you want and ask any questions! Jana

Re: Science Po (in Dijon)
Hi Dorota,
I am Katja, a student at Sciences Po Paris, campus of Dijon. It's nice to hear that you are interested in applying for the undergraduate program there
It's a great choice, believe me
About the costs, there are first of all the tuition fees which depend, as Jana has already mentioned, on the country you come from. If you come from outside of the EU, you pay by default 9,000 EUR of the tuition fees. However, if you come from an EU country, the tuition fees are calculated according to the revenue of your parents, the number of children in the family, the standard of living of your country etc. Taking all that into account, you pay an amount which ranges from 0 to 9,000 EUR. There are also several possibilities of scholarships, including the scholarship of Sciences Po, which you can apply for.
Living in Dijon is much less expensive than the life in Paris but is neither that cheap. You can live either in a student residence or in an apartment. For a student residence you pay around 250 EUR/month. For the apartment, it depends on how big it is, where it is situated, if you live there alone or with someone etc., but let's say that you pay around 350 EUR/month for that. In both cases, you can get a financial aid i.e. CAF (around 100 EUR or so) that almost every student here has.
With the books and other "school material" you do not spend a lot of money. You usually do not have to buy books for each subject but sometimes it is good to have one. In any case, it does not represent a huge cost. Sciences Po Dijon is located almost in the mere city center as well as the student residence so for the transport within Dijon you neither spend a lot of money (10 EUR/month at max). To travel around France you can get quite some reductions as a student and to get from Paris to Dijon and vice versa, for example, you pay (one way) around 20 EUR.
I hope this helped you a bit to estimate the living expenses. Should you have any further questions concerning studies or living in Dijon as well as anything else, don't hesitate to write me. I would be more than happy to answer you.

Re: Science Po (in Dijon)
Thanks for your advice!
Katja, I have another question, when you so kindly offered me to ask you. How hard is to get there? I´m doing my CAE and my DELF B1 this winter, because I would like to apply for the english-with-intensive-french programme, but apart from the necessary language testing and up-to-date knowledge, what should I have and do? I´ve participated in Models of international institutions (EU, UN) and I debate competitively in WSDS and Karl Popper Style. Do you think that this is enough for being an interesting student? And if not, what should I try doing? -

Hey I'm interested in applying to Sciences Po (Dijon) for 2012 entry.
How competitive is the admissions process? What are they looking for in a student?
Also, what's studying at Dijon like? In particular, I was wondering about something on their website, where it says that students doing the intensive French programme must study Hungarian, Czech or Polish? Is this true? I'd much rather study Russian or German instead. -

@ Dorota:
How hard it is to get there?
You can never know. The procedure is highly selective and there are people who applied with an interesting dossier but were rejected. On the other hand, there are some that have just "tried" and got in. I think that your motivation is the main key to success. Grades are important but above all you have to show that they really reflect your knowledge. MUN and MEU are great, and the debating is perfect. Just show them that you know how to apply all that you learn in practice - critical thinking, organized analysis, good argumentation etc. I am doing the english-with-intensive-french program so should you have any further questions regarding this, don't hesitate to ask
@ -raisa:
I have already partly answered your question about the competitiveness of the admissions process above.
About the languages... If you come from the Central or Eastern Europe, you are not obliged to learn Hungarian, Czech or Polish. This is obligatory for French students or students coming from countries other than those of the Central or Eastern Europe. However, the others can learn other languages as well, such as German, Italian, Russian, Spanish etc. In the english-with-intensive-french program you have to chose at least one foreign language other than French or English, but if you want you can do two as well. In the first semester of the first year, the majority of the subjects are in English with intensice learning of French but in second semester already you join the "francophones" and do the majority of the subjects in French
As I have already mentioned above, I am doing the english-with-intensive-french program so you can always ask if you have any further questions
Good luck,

Re: Science Po (in Dijon)
Hello(: I'm Michael I'm hopefully going to be spending an exchange year at sciences po Dijon. I was just wondering where is most of the students from? I'm Australian-Italian, I'm guessing there won't be many other Aussies there, but are there usually many Italians? But in any case is the student body mostly french, or mostly eastern-european or what?
Thankyou! -
