I don't have a definitive answer, but I guess if you're wanting to the stay in the same area of political alignment in terms of organisations, I can't see it being a problem.
Otherwise, I'd just make sure that you're getting relative and transferrable experience from the positions you do take up, and you think hard about how to articulate that in later applications.

It would have to be a pretty closed-minded organisation to reject a good quality candidate based on a dislike of a group that person doesn't work for any more!

In my personal experience (work in an independent think tank) the people I work with come from varied political backgrounds, and some are card carrying political party members and they're all OK here. I think as long as you don't get into anything too extremist you'll be OK. Hope that helps.

If I manage to secure an internship with for example the Fabian Society or the Royal United Services Institute (picked those just for illustrative purposes), will the political nature of these institutes be a hindrance if employers/others intensely dislike them?
If you're looking to work in the private sector you can forget it!

    (Fabian society)

I kid, but let's just say... it doesn't make things easier for you.

Go and work for a respectable think tank like the Adam Smith Institute
