Re: monitor or tv?not really you can get hd monitors(Original post by fuze-mo25)
wouldnt the tv have better picture quality though?
buying a monitor also removes any need for a tv license (some stroes have decided that there gona make you apply as you buy a tv despite not needing a license for gaming) -
Re: monitor or tv?No. PC monitors have always been superior. Higher resolutions, higher PPI, higher refresh rates.(Original post by fuze-mo25)

'HD' is just a marketing term for selling TVs. The whole business of '1080p' means very little when it comes to PC monitors, especially given that they've always been progressive (p) as opposed to televisions typically being interlaced.(Original post by kopite493)

As for whether you go for a TV or a monitor, I guess that depends on your budget. It's pretty much a choice of quality vs quantity; large television versus a smaller but higher quality monitor.Last edited by Yuck; 20-05-2012 at 03:07. -

Re: monitor or tv?At least part of that depends on the size of the tv and where you're sitting.(Original post by fuze-mo25)
does a computer work well with a tv?
For working at a desk a 24" screen is around the largest you'll want. It's likely a screen that size will be 1920x1080.
TV's will go bigger but usually don't increase the resolution. This effectivly just means you'll want to sit further back for using it comfortably.
If you really need extra screen real-estate some monitors have better resolutions than 1920x1080
