Re: WJEC AS German - 23rd May 2012
Hello! I'm so glad I found this thread...
How's your revision going?
I've just finished doing a past paper and I'm feeling alright about the exam tomorrow (except I just found out that I can't access the mark scheme for the paper, so I don't actually know how well I've done
)
For the essay, I'm going to go through the past papers again and plan a response to each essay question - just to get me thinking about each topic, really.
Our teacher said that most of the marks are actually through having a good, structured argument, so I'm focusing on that rather than trying to cram grammar.
New section in English?! I haven't heard of that...

I don't know anything about the WJEC syllabus- I clicked this thread by accident, because I'm on AQA, which is also tomorrow, but AQA German* exams have a small German listening subsection, which you answer in English.
*here**
** I accept no responsibility for any adverse marking outcomes, if you practice with these past papers from a totally different exam board.Last edited by Octopus_Garden; 22-05-2012 at 20:33. Reason: link -
Re: WJEC AS German - 23rd May 2012
I found it easy, must be because I am a native
I think I wrote too much on the last question though, did the one on having a job that is fun :/ The question with the ticking is confusing because it is so specific and tricks you, for example one of the statements said that Alex had 3 English teenagers come couch surf to him but I was confused whether to tick it as right as they were in their 20's. My friends thought it was easy too

Re: WJEC AS German - 23rd May 2012
It was quite good, I never like saying that because I then always end up doing rubbish :')
I thought the Couchsurfing text was fairly simple but I found the listening more difficult. I chose the essay on holidays in Great Britain which was okay; I just compared holidays between England and a foreign country. How did everyone else find it?

Re: WJEC AS German - 23rd May 2012
Yeah the new section was a bit strange... I found some of the questions really vague, like:
How do we know the Alex is a successful couchsurfer?
I did the holiday essay too! I went over the word count at first, but then spent ages cutting out words, so eventually it was exactly 250 words long.
I was surprised at the normality of the listening - usually it's something crazy like beaches in Berlin or suitcase auctions at the airport...

Re: WJEC AS German - 23rd May 2012
I quite liked the new section because I find it much easier to write about something that I've read in English rather than trying to write what I'd like to say in German and making a mess of it. I agree that some of the questions were rather vague , but I liked that there were very few true/false statements. The paragraph translation was quite simple too, overall I don't think anyone I know had too many problems and it sounds like you've all done well

On the subject of the essay, it looks like the examiners are going to be sick of comparisons of Britain and abroad! -
Re: WJEC AS German - 23rd May 2012
I thought it went really well!
Was a bit confused at first when I saw the English section... I thought some of the questions were a wee bit vague (e.g. How do we know that Alex is an experience couchsurfer?)
I did the essay on "only people with hobbies etc are interesting and happy"
so did another person in my class, two did the Great Britain one and one did the school one.

Re: WJEC AS German - 23rd May 2012Yeah the exam was pretty easy! I put false at first but then when I looked back at my answers, most of them were false so I changed it to true :/(Original post by 4MANU4EVER4)
For the true false question about Alex having three teenage girls over, what was the answer?
I put false because the girls were all in their 20s.
I hope this is right.
Did anyone else put the same?
