    Dropping out of uni
Ok so like im new here but I kinda need some opinions on this.

So like I am just about to finish my first year at uni doing international relations and mandarin. But the thing is from about 2 months in at uni, I started to hate my course.

IR was not what I thought it was going to be and did not peak my interest, Mandarin was more of a chore, was boring and I hated it.

So I was thinking do you think it would be a good idea to drop out ?
I all ready have planned that for the next year I am going to work more hours at my part time job to save money and then the year after I am going to apply to do geography, which I should have done in the first place, but I had to be stupid and pick IR and mandarin.

So do you think dropping out is a good idea or not. I don't want to seem like a failure for dropping out.

So long as you have a plan B - which it seems like you do. There is no shame in walking away from something if it isn't right for you. Have you spoken to any tutors/advisers at uni - maybe you could transfer over to Geography.

nope you're not a failure! please remove that from your mind! I believe you will be successful if you love what you're doing..so do what suits you!!!! and one day you wont regret anything and that you'll realise you've made the best decision ever..good luck

You should always do something you want to do and not be stuck doing something you hate.

That said, the fees are more expensive now, so do think about that (even though it makes no immediate difference unless you're able to/want to pay fees up front).

Don't worry about what anyone else thinks- you need to do what's right for you.

Dropping out is not stupid, in fact it would be stupid to spend 3 years doing something you don't enjoy! Do Geography if that's what you really want to do.

Ignore this. Don't make fees a factor in your education. You will sorely regret trying to save a little on fees when it could make a very large difference in quality and employability later on.
