    Water, water everywhere...
Firstly, I'd like to say I know it sounds silly, I seem to have very strange anxieties over things like this and they really frustrate me, but I can't seem to shake them!

Basically, after reading a post of TSR the other day about water intoxication, I'm really scared about drinking too much water? (Thanks a bunch TSR).
For example, right now I feel I need a drink, but I'm scared to have any because I fear I may end up getting water intoxication or the salt levels in my body may drop.

Today I've had maybe two pints or so? Normally I have a glass every morning and a glass every night, plus two or three cups of tea during the day. I'm scared I may affect my sodium levels though?
About a month and a half ago I drastically changed my diet, not because I'm overweight but because I wanted to eat more healthier - as a result I've cut all crisps, masses of sugar, multiple McDonalds a week, coke/energy drinks from my diet and instead eat more fruit and bread and wholesome foods - could this tied with more water (to compensate for no coke) result in water toxication?

I'd be grateful for any help

What are the different parts of the water cycle?
How does water get from one place to another?
How long does water spend in different places?
    Who needs water?

Don't worry. You're probably more thirsty because of the hot weather too.

Let's make this clear. IN order to get water poisoning you have to drink upwards of 4 Litres in an hour. Don't be so silly.

Your fear is absolutely ridiculous. If the drinks listed in the bold part are the only liquids you drink during the day, you'd rather bother about not drinking enough! You can easily drink 4 litres of water a day without any danger of water "toxication", at least if you eat once in a while The normal recommendation is 2 litres of liquids a day and 3 litres (or even more) if you sweaten a lot due to hot weather.

Thanks to you all! I know it sounds really stupid, but it was a genuine anxiety and I've been desperate for a drink for a couple of hours but haven't had one because I've been so worried!

I had a can of cider as an alternative to water earlier (feebly attempted to quench my first without drinking any more water) and I'm assuming that probably dehydrated me more anyways...another smart move.

I don't think I drink anywhere near three litres a day to be perfectly honest, and it's all spread out and accompanied by meals so Thank you all though, I apologise for being so silly!

But look at it the another way.

You could get too little water and die oof dehydration.

If you are so scared maybe read up on how much water is best for a human and stick to it. That is surely the most healthest and safest way.

If you stick to the guidelines of how much water you should be consuming, nothing will happen to you.

Stop taking tsr and yourself so seriously and for heavens sake stop being such a wimp, we're all going to die anyway so live and let live, just let things come naturally, you're body knows what is right, trust it and you will be safe.

Jesus man, get a grip. I'd say you're probably dehydrated most of the day if all you have is 2 pints plus a few cups of tea a day, let alone anywhere near risk of water intoxication.

If I'm going to recommend anything I'd be to double your intake of water.

Your body can properly process ~half a litre of fluid an hour, spreading that through a waking day (16 hours assuming 8 hour sleep) is 8litres, and that's not counting how much the body can just let straight through without absorbing.
now i'm not sure about other people but i'd find it difficult to drink 8 litres a day of water unless it was 50ºc

oh and there's very VERY few cases of excess water related deaths, and most of them are due to hyponatremia rather than water intoxication itself, if you're that worried about a lack of sodium eat some tomatoes or honeydews

Unless you're drinking literally gallons of water a day, I wouldn't worry about it.

If anything it sounds like you're not drinking enough.

You'll be fine. Especially if you have drinks like tea, the caffeine will counter that.

Especially in the sumemr you need to be ahving more than 2 glasses of water and a couple of cups of tea else you'll be the opposite of intoxicated, dehydrated!
