Help! Uni wants transcript from previous undergrad degree
I would be really grateful for anyone's advice

I previously studied in London for a year; during that year I had a terrible experience, of which my daughter was the result. Obviously because I was in such an awful place emotionally, my grades during that first year at uni were really poor, and I flunked out at the end of the year.

Fast-forward four years and I've reapplied to (different) unis to study a different undergrad degree. The problem is, my first choice have asked for a transcript from where I studied previously. My academic record while at school was flawless, but my uni transcript will no doubt be very poor. Is there any way I could excuse myself from sending them a transcript?

I do realize that the poor year at uni was my fault, but it was such an awful time and I find it difficult to talk about - should I try to explain what happened? My school record is so good, and I don't want to compromise my first choice by sending them a terrible transcript. What can I say? I don't suppose it would make any difference if I explained, would they still want it? I'm just so embarassed - anyone's help would beso much appreciated

Maybe the university has a policy on pregnancy and extenuating circumstances?

Just phone the uni, I'm sure they'd answer your questions more accurately

I doubt it, but you could include a letter explaining your circumstances at the time.
