How do you turn acquaintances into friends?
By aquaintances I'm just referring to people you talk to occasionally with a nice hello or whatever but afterwards you don't have contact for ages. I seem to have tons of them but hardly any people I would actually regard as a "friend". Is it is simple as asking them if they want to go out to the cinema or something and hoping they accept? Any advice will be much appreciated

Get their contact info and then plan things to do with them. If they've known you for a reasonable amount of time they'll come along

On facebook, start up a group conversation between yourself and 2/3 of these acquaintances in the inbox. Use that space to talk and share interesting/funny stuff etc.
Of course, you'd have to have known them for some time.

    Something along these lines.

However, if you truly "click" it just happens naturally.

talk to them more often when you see them. ask them about their life, joke around a bit, give them your number and invite them to the pub.

Yes, it is that simple. Although the pub is probably a better bet than the cinema.

Try reading "Stu the cockatoo is new at the zoo", and then try implementing the friendship algorithm

Don't drink, never gone to the pub/clubbing/partying (apart from my childhood days). Just not my thing/how my parents brought me up

Never said anything about you needing to drink. I know a guy who doesn't drink and started going to the pub 3-4 nights a week once he started uni just for the social factor. It's a great way to meet new people.

My family are religious though & also I probably wouldn't like the pub as it would be too rowdy for me lol, not my sort of thing, I'd rather go out to play sports/shopping for things like video games/have a nice meal with friends tbh
