    Bournemouth 2012 - HELP!!
    Hi,

I'm gonna be moving down to Bournemouth in September to start a Business and Management foundation degree as a mature student n need a bit of advice!

Putting it simply, I wanna know the best value for money accomodation and the best social accomodation (although that may not be relevant cause everyone probably thinks theirs is....). It's all well n good looking at Bournemouths advertised pictures n ****e youtube videos but I know they probs don't tell the full story......

Also, I'm gonna be 22 when I start, am I gonna stick out like a sore thumb?!

Any replies would be appreciated, cheers people!

Age wise it doesn't matter on my course/floor at halls there are a lot of people around the ages of 21-25 so not much of the problem.
The best halls for your money (plus social) would probably be either purbeck or cranborne, I'd rather pick purbeck due to the fact cranborne is starting to fall apart.

The halls im currently in is Lyme Regis which is a very nice, modern, social halls but its quite a big leap in price.

Also something to consider is that in the cheaper accomodation there is normally a more sociable atmosphere!

I'll be 21 when I start in September. Can't see it being too big of an issue.

I'll be 21 when i start my course in September. If you're not living in dorms then really house shares is the way to go. It's quite an expensive place to live.

I got an e-mail from the accommodation people saying that Cranborne is being closed for refurbishment this year and another of the accommodation is closing altogether. But a new accommodation is opening called Dorchester house although I guess this is going to be really expensive.

Acording to the e-mail I got the new prices for all of the accommodation this year will be released at the end of this month/ beginning of next.

I'm going to study Business and Management Foundation Degree at Bournemouth & Poole College so I'm thinking of going for Purbeck but thats meant to get over subscribed VERY quickly.

    Hi everyone,

I currently study at BU and there are many students around the age of 20 starting their degree so I wouldn't really worry as you are not going to stand out at all.

As for accommodation there is a range of either halls or houses to choose from depending on your preference, in my first year I lived at Purbeck.

I can't really see why not if you can find a decent house that's within your price range and you can arrange travel to your campus.

Everyone I know is renting a house for their second year, myself included. As far as I know, it's pretty much only first years and possibly post grad students who live in halls and uni lets.

Although everyone has said this already, I can agree that age is not an issue. I was 20 last year when I started, and know loads of people who are the same or older.

Purbeck, Chesil and Lyme Regis are the best halls in my opinion. As far as I know, they are all lively and sociable. I lived in Purbeck, but went to both Lyme and Chesil quite often, and I think the whole social side comes down to who you know. If you happen to end up with flatmates who aren't that social, which can happen in any of the halls, you'll just get to know people who are and hang out with them. Chesil and Lyme are both newer than Purbeck, and especially Chesil is still in a nice condition since it's only been open for a year.
