    It's not possible to log into Gmail but not Google because they're the same thing. Why do you need to?

    I know there is a setting that says "you can turn off web history blah blah". I have done this already but still don't trust it because off the whole street view thing.
    What's streetview got to do with them storing your browsing history?
    And if you're worried about that, it seems weird to be using gmail as your email provider, given that email is usually the masterkey to one's online identity.

    But anyway...
    One solution might be to create one Profile in Chrome that is logged in to your gmail/google account, and use a separate profile (or incognito mode) to browse the internet with.
