Are wireless printers less reliable than wired ones......?
I am looking to buy an all in one printer (printer, scanner and photocopier), which is affordable and decent quality but unsure whether to get wireless or not. Obv I would prefer a wireless one but heard that things can go wrong with stuff like wireless mouse, athough I am likely to keep the printer pretty close to my laptop, i.e only a meter or so away, Im not sure if it would affect it?

Also, do different printers use ink at different rates, i.e would some printers get through ink quicker than others like cars do with petrol? I was looking at ones below, what do you think?

Wireless printers are fun you can hack into them and print reams of porn on someone else's printer

It is possible to "hack" into a wireless printer and they are likely to print much more slowly than a wird printer. I personally have a HP and have to buy ink about once every two months at a cost of about £8.

Just a quick heads up, the first printer is available for £20 cheaper here..

To hack a printer is no different than it would be your laptop, so wouldn't worry about that. They use Wi-Fi to connect to your router/wirelessa accesspoint which is no different than connecting to it via your laptop, so it needs to be closer to your router rather than the laptop its self and if you have no problems with your laptop connection you "should" have non with a printer.

As for which printer is best, I have no idea :P

If you're going to print a lot, go for a Kodak, they have cheap ink. Otherwise, wireless/wired doesn't change much at all, all wireless printers should have wired connectivity too.

If you're worried just get a wired one. It can't be that difficult to plug in whenever you want to print, can't see any benefit really.

I use one of these :-

They are alright, but the cartridges can be a bit pricey.

I been using them for a long time, the last one I had lasted 4 years and died due to a lightning strike.

I doubt the ones that you mentioned would be unreliable as these days nearly everything can be on a WiFi and has largely become reliable.

The main reason I used it is because I needed a fax machine and since it had to be near a telephone port I had it wireless as I didn't want cables running all over.

If you are an occasional user I'd suggest you stick to a wired one as most of these wireless printers does require cartridges that are costlier.

Also are you sure you need a scanner?

One thing to note with Kodak is that it will not function without a colour cartridge(found this out the night before I was going to Alton Towers and needed to print my tickets). They claim this is the give bolder blacks, but why you can't make that decision yourself is beyond me.

Ignore this guy, he is assuming because it's wireless that it's easy to hack, well it's not. Also someone wouldn't try hack your printer because it would just be a waste of time. UPPSY has never hacked in his life.

Wireless or wired, any will be fine and both reliable. I would probably go with wireless (No reason but I prefer no wires )
