    The question refers to a graph drawn on a grid ... you have not given us the graph

    cos(0) = 1

    but the graph is at (0,0) so a-b=0

    The first maximum of the cos graph is usually when the angle = 90 so that should tell you what k is


    then look when x=90 and get another equation for a and b
