    NCEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Hey!

I am a year 13 student in New Zealand who is doing level 3 (broadly equivalent to A level) and I am thinking of applying for either oxford or cambridge.

I was wondering whether passing NCEA Level 3 with excellence will be good enough to get into oxbridge. I am thinking of doing med/science and are there other forms that I need to complete regarding the application?? Thanks ^.^

PS: I have already gained lvl 3 with excellence as a year 12 because I skipped 3 subjects (bio, chem and stats) a year ahead. Also i got three scholarships (Outstanding in Chem and normal schols in stats and bio) Would this be an advantage for my application???? If there are NZ-origin oxbridge students that did NCEA, what extra curricular activities did you guys do?? Thanks so much!!

Wow, you're gifted! At the age of just 13; not only am I surprised by your achievements, but also impressed by your lingual prowess.

To answer your question: Oxbridge care a lot about academic achievement and potential, which you certainly seem to possess. They don't care much about ECs, unless they compliment the subject you wish to pursue. In your case that would be medicine/science.

My advice would be that you do extraordinarily well in science subjects, maybe go beyond your school curriculum, to show that you're truly passionate.

For ECs, you might want to volunteer at a local hospital, or hospice (for application to study medicine)? This will make you come across as not only passionate about your intended degree, but also speak volumes about your compassionate disposition.

    Awks...

Year 13 in NZ means form 7 (ie the last year of high school)
But still thanks so much for your advice ^.^
