200-220 ucas points that needs 280?
    Hi

I've applied for a University and they gave me an conditional offer of 280 ucas points, but I'm going to end up with 200-220 ucas points(doing BTEC). I emailed my University and they said they will reduce the ucas requirements if there's spaces available(which I didn't tell them my expected points).
I know it depends on the course and university but have people with 200-220 ucas points went to a university that offered 280 points because 200 points is nowhere near close to 280 and I might as well look for 'clearings' come August?

    Thank you

When your in clearing, it can be quite flexible.
I managed to get in with 60 UCAS points less than my offer of 340 UCAS last year.
I called them up first thing in the morning, they said no,
Called back a few hours later, spoke to a different person,, he said yes.
All about luck when it comes to clearing.

I've known people to get in with lower grades than their offer states, but it really does depend on places. One of my friends was accepted onto his course with a D in a subject that he'd been told to get a B in for his offer. And I've known a few others who've been let in anyway. The university needs to fill the course, so there is a chance you might be considered if they don't have enough students.

60 UCAS points? Do u mean 260 or...

That's odd then, should I call up my Uni, if they reject me, should I call again in a few hours/days and hope it's someone else on the phone?

That's good, my expected grade was 240 points(since I went on holiday in my 1st year and was behind and weren't allowed to do Merits and Distinctions but this year, I lost confidence after I failed to achieve a Merit in one of my units. But I was wondering will I have a chance as my email said it also depends on how close I reached 280 points.

    Thanks anyways

If your doing a BTEC, can't you just bump some merits into distinctions?

I can see why your confused.
My offer was 340 points, I ended up with 280, 60 less than the original offer.
You will find that you will call back a university several times over the course of the day/clearing weekend, especially if they haven't yet closed the clearing hotline which means they still have places to fill.

Some teachers don't give feedbacks and are lazy.

I can't go back to my 1st year and during my 1st year, I went on holiday and was behind and they didn't let me do Merits and Distinctions and only Passes.

Worse is this year too, certain students in my group were behind needed to do the Passes and we moved on to a new unit that time but the teacher said he won't accept Merits from previous unit as we are on a new unit, yet he still allowed other students to do the passes from the previous unit

That's great, hopefully they do take you, but for me, it would be a miracle as my uni surprisingly has many applicants for my course so I'll just have to wait and see

    cheers.

The course I'm doing in college is absolutely shocking, not the course but the college. Teachers are lazy and don't even bother looking at my work, it's too late anyways, I got no complaints from teachers that gives me feedback and giving me a chance to improve my work but it's certain teachers are absolutely shocking. I ended up with under 200 ucas points anyways, so I'll be lucky to even get in a lower ranked university.

    Hi Thomas

I too have the crappest teachers at college, hardly pushed me to achieve distinctions during my two years of my btec level 3. Unfortunatley if you aren't on the ball with things it can all go a bit pear shaped. I have driven my tutors mad by asking for work to be marked/asking for a better grade/generally asking any sort of question to do with work (they too are extremely lazy)

I am hoping to go to university in September, have my conditional for DDM although I will only finish with DMM so its a worry for me.

I actually got moaned at for asking if I could improve my work they said I should be happy with what I would be leaving with.

    Where have you applied?

According to many students who don't live near or locally to the college, it is one of the best colleges in London and they aren't impressed at all so I'm not sure how is it ranked as one of the top colleges in London since the teachers are basically useless lol

I like my tutor and one or two teachers but certain teachers are so clumsy, one teacher last year don't even remember I gave him my work and got the nerve and tell me that he gives feedback when last year he said I'm only allowed one chance to do the work (Merit).

Last year I did no Merits and Distinctions as I had to go on a holiday trip sadly so I was behind and in a way quite unlucky because last year is easier than this year's and I wouldn't be worrying but then this year, when one of my teachers didn't give me a Merit (really harsh because I only needed 1 more assignment to do and didn't give me a chance to redo again when I had M1 and M2, sadly failed M3) then I lost my confidence as certain teachers just couldn't be bothered so I cba, I got a lot of work which was a waste of time. I'll just try and enjoy my summer and wait and see will 'Clearing' help me out.

I applied for Portsmouth and Middlesex.

DMM is good, I assume Westminster is one of the best for your course or something...

I really hope something works out for you, doesn't sound like you've had the best time at college. Your tutors should have been there for you when they weren't.

What course is it you want to study? I looked at middlesex but wasn't really my cup of tea lol

Yeah Westminster is really good for TV production/Media Studies just hope they let me in.

Don't forget personal statement and interview amount to a lot though
