Re: What's the most dangerous/crazy motorsport?!
Red Bull Air Race is one of the most impressive, along with F1
Reno Air Race is one of the most dangerous, with 11 fatalities and 69 injuries occuring from a crash last year.

The TT (although not necessarily a 'sport' rather an event), ~250 Dead since it was started IIRC, watch TT:Closer to the Edge for the lunacy.
4x4 event I go to is pretty crazy, everyone (its in the sticks so locals) gets absolutely hammered and bombs around some land in falling apart 4x4s with agricultural tyres on for an afternoon. Been for a couple of years and last year had a Vitara to play around in and a year before that a beastley 4.0L Auto Cherokee, best fun you can have outside the bedroom

Re: What's the most dangerous/crazy motorsport?!IOM TT and/or the Dakar Rally.(Original post by JamesDB)
What do people think is the most dangerous kind of motorsport. F1 seems pretty safe because no one seems to die or get injured. Rallying has a lot of crashes, but thankfully few injuries.
What do people think it is?
I'm a big fan of both but there are deaths at each one every year.
Isle Of Man is because you have motorbikes going at 160+mph on public roads with solid brick walls next to them and you come off at those speeds and hit something, you're dead...
With the Dakar it's a lot slower but it's offroad and over treacherous terrain. -
Re: What's the most dangerous/crazy motorsport?!NASCAR hasn't had any fatal accidents since 2001, and very few injury causing crashes since then too.
Indycar has had a few fatal crashes dating back to 01 and countless times of drivers getting injured.
I personally think openwheel motorsports is much more dangerous because of how easy it is to get a car airbourne with wheel contact.. -
Re: What's the most dangerous/crazy motorsport?!
I always thought power boat racing was meant to be one of, if not the most dangerous motor sport. I guess it depends on whether you mean only on dry land or not. If it's on dry land then I'd agree with the TT (and motor bike racing in general) being the most dangerous.

Re: What's the most dangerous/crazy motorsport?!
Definately something with bikes. I think that all forms of motorsport require at least a 6-point harness as well as a roll cage for cars, so the only thing posing a real danger to the drivers are motorcycles. I'd say Isle of Man, because after watching some of the onboard footage, those guys are absolutely insane.

Sidecar racing. Surely?
