16th vs 20th century history
Hello, i am looking to take history next year for a-level and our school offers two modules/options, either 20th century history or 16th century history and i was wondering if anyone who is currently studying either or has studied either has any thoughts on which to study
P.S i'm sorry but i don't know which exam board this is under, i think it's WJEC...
Any feedback would be much appreciated -
Re: 16th vs 20th century history
It really depends what you're interested in. If you want to study things like Germany, WW1/2, The Cold War, The Russian Revolution - Go with the more modern course. Alternatively, if you want to study things like the Tudors and the Protestant Reformation go for the 16th century course.
Personally I enjoy older history as opposed to the more modern stuff. I did contemporary history at GCSE and A-Level so when I got to university I picked the older courses. The assessment criteria will be virtually the same for both courses so all you really need to decide is what content you'd rather learn.Last edited by Mod Calm; 03-06-2012 at 01:18. -
Re: 16th vs 20th century history
Never took history (not even at GCSE) but i have an interest to it (i dont like essay writing) but i find 20th century history a lot more fascinating just for the fact that it didnt happen too long ago. Especially the cold war, that only ended about 20 years ago! And i was also interested in studying WW1 and WW2. But i guess it's whats more interesting to you at the end of the day.
