On the question where you had the quadratic 0= V^2 +20v-1000, The solution could of been much easier and quicker by using 'completing the square' to gain your answer. Or does the ms specify, if you have been officially told, that you must of used the quadratic formula ?

I think Grangran, for questions that ask you to prove an answer, you require a specific method. For questions to work out the answer which you are not informed of, any method is fine.
E.g if they inform you the answer to an integral is 2/3, you have to obviously integrate the function to receive the answer. On the other hand, if they ask you to work out x in an equation, you could use the quadratic formula/completing the square. -
