    Standard Grade Business Management 2012
How did you all find it?

Being without a teacher for over a year a lot of my class found the Credit very difficult - especially the question about the EU and Data Protection Act.
Thankfully, I could employ knowledge from Modern and Computing to help me with those.

    Hope you all did well.

I found it do-able, the last page a couple of questions we haden't covered, but i managed to answer them. What did you get for the cash budget deficit?

I went to see my teacher afterwards, who is not a Bus Man teacher but covers the subject and he was raging about the questions because we briefly covered Finance and mainly did BEP and Gross/Net Profit %. I think for the Cash Budget Deficit was arguably the most challenging question for me - I went down the line of no-one spending, expenses being too high.. I'm not sure if that's right but it's the best I could conjure up at the time. What about you?
I now realise I misread the European Union 2 marker on Q5 as it apparently said "apart from grants" at the start of it and my answer was trading in the Euro for Eurozone members and Grants.

I wrote it was when the company over spendes etc, and my teacher said that was right, so not sure. For the EU one i wrote it was a single market with no taxes or tarrifs (I got that from my modern studies exam ). Not sure if EU was correct.

Yep - Kicking myself about no taxes! Thankfully, the EU one was in KU and I felt pretty confident that I had done well in KU so dropping a mark, albeit stupidly, there hopefully won't matter too much. It's DM I'm a bit worried about - the six marker I left til' last but my teacher reckons I did the right sort of stuff - reducing price, rebranding etc.
I have to say, looking at Past Papers compared to today - we probably had one of the toughest papers in years because the questions were quite weird  as in, they didn't follow a typical pattern of economies of scale, pricing strategies etc.
I'm now very glad I took Computing as I knew what to put for Data Protection - those in my class who didn't take Computing had no clue whatsoever.

Sorry to intervene, I did Business SG last Year but Data Protection Act is in the course but its just more frequently examined in Computing and Admin.

The credit paper was quite annoying because I revised for loads of stuff that never came up e.g current ratio, acid test ratio and we got told we would have a finance section with ratios that covers about 6 marks and we never!

The sony promotional strategy question for 6 marks got me and in the general the one about the break even point when the total revenue you had to say what number it was and it was a bit below £1500 i just wrote £1500 but went to see my teacher after it and a lot of people left it out

Yep. It was just since we hadn't had a teacher for a long time - the teacher who covered us sort of skipped stuff like Data Protection as we hadn't seen it come up in recent years and is just a very small part of the course

I also revised for bits of the course you would expect to get at least four marks on and they didn't come up.
The 6 marker got me aswell but apparently what I did for it was fine enough. I also drew a line on the General to see what the BEP was and I noticed it wasn't exactly 1,500 but I just went with it anyway. There was surely no-way we were supposed to write 1,450 or something

What did you put for question 1? I think it was the RBS one asking what type of takeover it was?
