Hey, im hoping to study maths at uni, anyone know what the timetables are like for maths students at bristol? How many hours of lectures per week and how many seminars? Also how many students would you typically have in your seminars?.. Any help much appreciated

Lectures for maths are approximately 10-12 a week, + 3 tutorials or so, each of which will have 4/5 students. Most lectures are morning lectures, ie most days starting at 9/10/11 and finishing by 1. Tutorials are generally afternoons, but that does depend somewhat on your tutor and what they prefer.

Yep, Rubgish has got it spot on for 1st year. I had 12 hours of lectures a week. Most of my tutorials were in the morning, but it depends on when they can be fitted in, and not everyone always turned up for tutorials, so for me it was typically only 3 people.

All lectures are 50 minutes each.

In 2nd and 3rd year you get more choice so it can vary depending on your options. Options outside the department will have different amounts of hours.

2nd year you have about 9 lectures per week (3 lectures per unit) and then an additional problems class for each unit (no tutorials) - totalling 12 hours a week. Problems classes are typically in the same style as a lecture but going through homework problems or more examples from the lectures. Problems classes typically have the same amount of students as lectures.

3rd year you have 3 lectures per unit. No tutorials or problems classes. I had 10 hours, then 7 hours in respective semesters, but know of other people who had considerably more because of their options.
You have to do one written unit, which is typically done as a project in Year 3, which doesn't have any lectures, but will have time with your supervisor.
