    Wimbledon Tickets.
Hi, I'm just wondering has anyone been to Wimbledon and if so how did you get tickets? I know there's the que, but do any websites sell tickets directly without all the queing? Thanks

the only tickets you can buy before hand are via the ballot (which you have missed if you haven't already applied) or by buying debenture tickets (fairly few and far between).

So if you want a day of tennis, I'm afraid there will be some amount of queuing needed. If you just want a peek, then you can often buy resale tickets towards the end of the day (5pm onwards) there is usually no/only a small queue for these.

I would be wary of buying tickets online, there's a high chance they're fake.

    PS- It's worth queuing for

All tickets will be sold out by now, most of them are actually ballots to tennis clubs anyway, so the only way is to queue (don't be lazy, it's part of the experience!)

It involves being in Wimbledon early, really early, and queuing on a field for a couple of hours - but it is worth every minute! I've been the past two years and it's a fantastic experience. You can get grounds tickets for £20 each but one thing - make sure you know that generally you have to queue for courts to get a seat! As soon as I get into Wimbledon we rush to the court we want to see the first match on, because otherwise the chances are it will be full!

You can buy resale tickets at the resale ticket office inside the grounds for later in the day, I did last year and it was £5 to get inside Centre Court to see Federer!

It is truly one of my favourite experiences and I can't wait to go again this year! It's a long day, but worth every minute of queueing and every penny for the ticket!

That might be a new thing? I've never used it and don't really think they do... it's always been first come, first served at the queue.

Where do you live? It's a safe idea to be in Wimbledon for somewhere between 7 and 8:15, personally I'd go for 7:30/7:45! That way you're guaranteed entry and stuff.

Which day you go is also really important too, I've been on the second Monday and it's dreadful because it's the most popular day and every court is full to the brim Last year I went on the first Wednesday or Thursday and there's much more opportunity to watch a lot of tennis! (Including Centre Court for Federer for £5 )

I've been a couple of times, and queued OVERNIGHT, and I can tell you it is completely worth it. Get there for about 8pm the night before, set up camp, and enjoy a full day's tennis on a show court the day after for £40. I'm going again this year!

I saw it on their website its under the heading tickets, they say that they will release tickets on ticketmaster the day before?!

This is the tricky part, I live in Ireland.. I was going to get the 8 oclock plane over but obviously by the time I get to Wimbledon it'll be probably like 10..so thats not going to work Maybe the best option would be to get to London the night before and then get to Wimbledon the next day really early! I was planning on the Friday or Saturday as they are both 3rd round matches, I'd be happy to just get onto the Ground..anyway near Federer
    Thanks for the advice!

This may be a new thing though, I've definitely never seen them do that before!

Wow that's dedication Well you could, I mean, there are plenty of hotels nearby or even in central London that you could stay in pretty cheaply (for London standards at least )

Friday/Sat should be fine, it's usually the second week were it's 100% packed with people, didn't help that it also happened to be one of the sunniest days of the year either

If Federer is your guy, if you can't get tickets to see him on a show court (via resales/if you're one of the first 500 people in the queue which pretty much involves queuing overnight), then you can head down to the practice courts!
They're down past 'Murray Mound' and are usually pretty empty, it's a good way of getting really close to all the players! (Sat eating strawberries and cream while watching Pat Cash coaching players, then listening to Elena Baltacha talk about her sticky sun cream, is a pretty awesome way to eat! )

Ah I made a mistake, the tickets are only for court 3 that go on sale on ticketmaster, but still I'd happily take that if they were cheap.. It says it on their website under ticket prices.

I can't bring Wimbledon to Ireland, so I suppose I'll have to go there Yeah that's a good idea I'll probably do that because I could probably get a taxi out to Wimbledon around 7ish to be sure of getting anywhere near the court!

Ok thanks for the info, I definitely plan on going down to the practice courts! I love the Wimbledon commentators, infact I'm pretty much obsessed with Wimbledon for the two weeks its on.. sad, maybe

Makes sense! There is unreserved seating available for Court 3 anyways though if it's really expensive!

Good point! If you got there for 7 you'd definitely get in, you're given a queue card thing and then just sit on a field with thousands of other people until later that morning when gates open! I love Wimbledon! Especially when it's sunny! It's a great place with an awesome atmosphere and everyone there is just as excited as you

Ah Ok, so I'll probably be sitting around for a while, better to be there though ..How does the ticket prices work? Do you just buy tickets for a specific court or ground tickets? ..I don't want to get a shock when I go to pay for the tickets
    Sounds Magical

Centre Court/Court 1 tickets are roughly £40, Court 2 around £25 and outside courts around £15-20, although I am not too certain. In the queue system, it's a simple first come first serve basis, (no pun intended!), with 500 tickets for each court, (Centre, 1 and 2) plus 500 admissions for the outside courts.

    Hope this helps

You can go on ticketmaster the day before at 9am and they have a limited number of tickets for centre court and court 1 for sale. They go on sale at exactly 9am and sell out within seconds so you need to be fast! If you don't get tickets for that day just try again tomorrow, I do it every year and have always got tickets for centre court at least once each year

But wouldn't there be a very long queue as soon as they start selling at 9am?

In which case, won't they have sold out by the time they get to serve you?

Sorry I wasn't very clear with my last post.
Ticket master are allocated about 200 tickets for centre court each day. They go on sale at 9am every day for the following days play, so if you want to go on the first day, just go on ticketmaster at 9am Sunday morning and try your luck with getting some tickets
It's just first come first served, there is no queue like with concert tickets, you find out straight away whether you have tickets or not, you just need to be quick with typing in the funny word things to prove you're a human and you're in

Hey, I went on the ticketmaster website and sorry if it sounds stupid, but what are 'return tickets'?

    In here: http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/packag...k=tm_sports_f1

There are 'reserved seated tickets' and 'return tickets' for centre court and court no.3. Both types of ticket seem to be priced exactly the same.

Return tickets are tickets that people have bought in advance but then returned them because they couldn't attend. Wimbledon pass these tickets on to ticketmaster to sell online. The reserved seated tickets are the tickets that are already allocated to ticketmaster each day. Both are the same price, but the return tickets are likely to be better seats since the tickets that are given to ticketmaster (the reserved seated tickets) are for the top couple of rows. The view is still perfectly fine from there though

Oh I see, were the return tickets bought by people in the ballot months ago?
