My new student start-up business, help needed!
Hi guys, basically I'm currently coding a new website which I hope will generate a little bit of revenue to help me to survive my second year at uni when I go back in October; but I need a little bit of help.

My website is going to promote interesting content in a completely original way (all will be revealed), whether that's an image of something cool and new or a link to an interesting website that might teach the user something new.

I'm currently building up a little starter database of images and websites that I like and that I think could brighten up someone's day or teach them something interesting. There's interesting pictures (one of Macchu Picchu for example) and a few links to youtubers and websites that I like.

It's an extremely lengthy process for me to do all on my lonesome and that's where you guys come in, if you know of anything particularly amazing or interesting, or you know of any websites that you like (or that you run/participate in) please, please let me know about them by posting a reply here. When it's up-and-running (hopefully) I'll be charging companies and websites for this 'ad space' so this is a chance to get involved early and for free!

I would appreciate any help, I've always found that people on TSR are friendly and helpful so this is my first port-of-call. I'll remember you if it does take off!

So you're basically looking for interesting websites or things on the web? I'll have a look for you.

You heard of Sabotage Times? It's a website with articles on music, sport, film, TV, fashion, all sorts really. I'd recommend that. Not sure if it's the sort of thing you're looking for?

Looks good Yeah literally anything that's remotely interesting or a bit sort of 'out-there'. It's all about encouraging people to see something they wouldn't normally see, and get them out of their usual browsing habits (ie opening up the browser and smashing 'facebook.com' into the top and sitting there for three hours) Thanks

Ah, okay, fair enough. Good luck with it, will be interesting once you've got it up.

I'll tell you if I find any more interesting websites an' all. A quick Google of 'unusual websites' may give you some more results.

What programming language are you using to create it?

Mainly HTML with some JavaScript, it's deliberately very simple. I'm also writing an iPhone/Android app for it.

    .
This sounds an awful lot like stumbleupon.com and the like. Are you sure you'd be able to make it original enough?

It's slightly different, I'll post a link when the site's live. It's more of a stop, glance and go kind of thing really rather than an immersive activity like StumbleUpon. Might not be successful but it's worth a try!

I'd be interested to see how the project goes, do let us know the URL once you've completed it! (Maybe beta-test before releasing to public?)
