Starting a website?
Ughhh... poor Swedish college student here. Life's gone down hill, only thing that has kept me up is K-POP, yes, I know, terrible...
So I thought I will make some cash to get my own apartment and make a website.
I'd appreciate ANY kind of tips on ANY area of websites. ThanksLast edited by Illusionary; 08-06-2012 at 18:13. -
Re: Starting a website?
Well I don't really understand what the post is asking, but I'll try and make an input anyway.
From what I know, the website 'industry' is very competitive. There's probably hundreds of thousands of people with blogs/web-pages trying to make a few extra $$. This means you have a lot of competition - a lot of people competing for those views.
Your barriers to entry are pretty low, but your competition is very high. I'd say go for it, but make sure you fully commit! -
Re: Starting a website?
So you have no website ideas, and I'm assuming you don't have the skills to create one either, otherwise you would have taken up one of the numerous "I have an awesome website idea but no idea how to create a website etc. etc." threads. So what skills do you have in relevant in website designing and/or development?

Re: Starting a website?
Buy a book and start learning. Software/web development isn't a get-rich-quick scheme that you jump into and make loads of money; it is a vocation. You start by learning the basics and - if you're very lucky - you might find that this time next year you're in a position to turn a small profit.

Re: Starting a website?
unless you can really make something that's really unique, you probably won't make it.
here are the adresses of a few free web hosting websites with a UI.
http://wordpress.org/hosting/
http://blogger.com
http://sixserve.net (i'm not sure whether this is working right now)
As i said, it's really hard to make it out there.
unless you buy your own domain name, you won't be seen easily on a search engine like google.
you
I've been writing reviews of stuff on a website for about a year now and i get no more than 200 views a month.
good luck.Last edited by thehumorouscheese; 12-06-2012 at 19:57.
