What are Lancaster's partner universities in North America?
    Hello

I notice that some courses have a year abroad in North America, 'with one of Lancaster's partner institutions', however, I can't find out what the partner institutions are.

Does anyone know which partner universities in North America they are? Anyone on the North America exchange scheme/have been on it/soon to go on it?

If you get accepted on to a degree with a year in North America, do you get to choose which institution you want to go to?

I hope you can help. Thanks!

According to this page, for politics you can go to George Washington University, University of Nebraska - Lincoln and Texas A and M University. This page has added University of California. I'm going to do business studies with a year in North-America, and I have more schools to choose from, so it depends on what subject you've chosen.

Hmm... not that much choice, and nowhere in Canada to choose from.

i have several friends going abroad next year..
a couple are going to toronto (CANADA!!)
a couple of going to texas
one was meant to be going to boston..
a couple of going to florida
and my friend was in colorado the year before this one.

they give you a list when they start to organise you abroad year so you get plenty of options and you have to pick 2nd and 3rd choices. you do have to get certain marks in your first year modules to be allowed to take a year abroad.. i know one guy who didn't make the cut and so is spending the extra year in lancaster..

The choices are on the Uni website:
    http://www.lancs.ac.uk/users/interna...road/depts.htm

No partners in Ca. for English or History.

It depends on the course though (which universities you can choose from).

Also, it's not an 'extra year' is it? It's just the second year in the 3 year degree.

US: Purdue, Texas A & M, Maryland, North Carolina, Chapel Hill

    Canada: Waterloo

    Australasia: ANU, QUT

    Europe: Franche-Comte, Palermo

This is however just for this year and might slightly change in the future.

It varies by subject and year - I had looked in ones from a previous year found on a website but the same places weren't offered to me.

I studied abroad in 09/10. I did English Language (Linguistics department) and went to the University of New Hampshire and loved it. I had a friend on my course go to Carleton in Ottawa, Canada and went to visit a couple of times - seemed like a nice place. We also had the options to go to North Carolina, Georgia, Missouri and perhaps one or two others.
