Yes it does, have a look at Health and Fitness. The gym and studio's are in the Guildhall area and I think there's something down at Langstone as well.

I go to 24/7 Fitness at Gunwharf Quays which seems pretty popular with the students as well.

£20 a month and a start up fee of £37. u get £20 back if u go 20 times in 8 weeks. that pricw ia for a 9am - 5pm time slot. not aloud in after that. but thats good cos from 5pm onwards everyone comes home and hangs out so u dont wana miss out. the facilities are very good aswell.

the uni gym is like £100 for 6 months but the layout is crazy cos its in an old building so everything is in loads of little rooms and down corridoors. duno do what you want i guess

As a comparison to Fitness First, at 24/7 Fitness I'm paying £19.95/month (£20 admin fee when you start) for full access during manned hours (7am-10pm during the week, 8am-6pm at weekends) although you can pay a deposit for a key that gives you access outside the manned hours as it's technically open 24/7 - very useful when I've got too much energy to sleep at 3am! It's a rolling contract that you can cancel with a month's notice, so if you end up not going you're not tied into paying for 12 months

They also do off-peak student contracts but those are 12 months and limit the hours you can go.

If you're in Guildhall accommodation then this and the uni gym are the closest to you.

Looking at the map it doesn't look like its in the safest area with easy access during the night?

It's in the middle of Gunwharf Quays, the area is well lit and fairly busy at night as there are bars and two nightclubs there, so there are also plenty of security/police at night. The road from Gunwharf towards the halls is also well lit, I've never felt unsafe walking that route in the dark.

The uni gym is really cheap if you sign up at the beginning of the year and they also include a lot of classes which are brilliant

how packed out does the uni gym get? I assume its the cheapest in the area so everyone goes there.

And how big is the free weights area
