    LOTRO? Not sure...
Hey! Last year I quit WoW after 4 years of playing, and I am looking for a free mmorpg! I am going to try Lord of the rings online but I don't want to become like I was when I played WoW, I would go to bed with wow on my mind and would plan what I would do the next day on WoW, it was redicilous! But I really want to play LOTRO however I don't want to become addicted! Advice???

Hmmm. I'm not sure what advice anyone can give, good MMOs have the tendency to be quite addictive!

Try finding something else that you like doing, then counter the addiction to MMOs with needing to do that as well? :') haha, stupid idea, I know, but it's late.

Another suggestion for a free MMORPG is DC universe, if you're into that sort of thing, it is now free on Steam

Well Guild Wars 2 is almost out and that's free, as in no subscription cost. I saw a Yogscast video of LOTR Online and it looked ok, except they couldn't join the same instance to do quests together. I don't know if it's changed since. I agree with DC Universe online. Just don't expect it to actually keep your attention for long.

I honestly couldn't believe that LOTRO Rohan trailer. It was so bad. What they were saying made no sense in the whole scheme of things and that final CG of the background, the films ten years ago had better effects. I might get LOTR Online if it turns out to be ok but yeah.

Oh there's a beta called Firefall which is an MMO shooter with quests. It's completely free and definitely worth checking out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0-C_iEmWkM

All it takes is willpower, try to limit your time spent on it, make sure you spend only an hour or whatever. Set an alarm clock to go off 1 hour or 2 hours after starting.

Have you tried singleplayer rpgs like Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind etc?

Means you get the addictive gameplay of an rpg without the pressure online clans and the online community in general puts on you in mmorpgs to quest more etc.

Lotro's good  I found it slightly addictive too, then stopped :P But that was mostly as I was leading a kinship. Join Laurelin :P Good RP server :woo: I've found that there are plenty of casual gaming kins + Casual RPers, which are all good fun.
