    Can anyone else do this?
Basically I've noticed I can shift my visual perception and look at something 'from the opposite direction'. It's kinda hard to explain, but when you do it, it really makes your head go funny and makes you jump. For example, if I focus on a motorway on a car journey, I can alter my perception of it where I can view it as though I'm going the OPPOSITE way (even though the car is travelling the same way).

Can anyone else do this? I've asked people and they said they can't do it. For me it's quite effortless. I can even do it with my own house so it becomes odd-looking/looks completely different, like it's in an entirely different location. It's pretty cool (but you can't maintain it for very long).

Are you sure you weren't looking at the other side of the motorway?

Imagination? Be imaginative and imagine a different perspective?

    Yes I can do that.

yes, I know what you mean. I used to do it all the time when I was younger... before I found the internet...
It works in my bathroom really well for some reason, it makes the whole house seem like a different place.

for anyone who doesn't get it: it's like when you hang upside-down and look at your surroundings from there. Everything is the same, but it looks completely different and your brain can't flip it. I can't really explain it... a better way of thinking of it is when you first visit a new place and you don't know where anything is in relation to other rooms/buildings, you only have one view of it. After you get to know the place you see it from different angles, and realise that your first perception of it was different. Or when you dream that you are in your house, but it feels different, like it's been rotated or is facing another direction. It's that kind of feeling.

It's so weird... I've got to the stage now where it's actually frightening me because I keep doing it all the time now, and it's making me anxious :/

But yeah it's exactly as you've described. It's because your brain is basically imagining a reversed viewpoint but you can't maintain it for long (particularly in very familiar places) because your brain is so used to the original perspective. It's very strange though.

I think everyone can do it, it's just some people can't be bothered to force their brain to do silly things I need to get a life...

Yeah i think i know what youre saying,
like i get this especially after being away for a long time.
like once after a holiday we came home through the garage and it just felt different, like a different angle idk really.
i dont get it often now, but i think it happens as you re-recognise a place through after seeing it in a new viewpoint

Yes I think it's called "turning your head around"

Basically, look down a street, and try and imagine it in an OPPOSITE way to how you're currently picturing it. It's very easy to do, and nothing to do with 'turning your head around'. It's basically your brain visualising it in 'the other direction' or how you picture 'the other direction'.

    I can do it OP

To everyone who doesn't understand: look down a road that's very familiar with you, and try and imagine it in the OPPOSITE way. It still looks the same, but it's like the ground beneath you has shifted to north, or east, or whatever, basically a different direction. It's a bit of a head****, but it can make places/rooms etc look completely different. It's difficult to maintain for too long though.

Is it just using your imagination like anyone would or is it something more?

Bit of both I think I think people with really overactive imaginations can do it a lot easier. Also people who have nothing better to do

i think i heard a story on the radio about people who see things from a completely different perspective, i also heard that the women who could do it was going blind...probably not helpful

It really does mess your head up and make everywhere look different. It's so weird how the mind works.

I think everyone sees everything differently anyway so it's easy to imagine an 'alternate perspective'.

I find it really easy to do. Maybe I'm just strange.
