    Queries about A Level
I am an international student from India and I am planning to take CIE in November.I want to study computer engineering i good U.K. universities like Oxford University , Imperial College London , University College London, University of Edinburgh or better.I have seen the A Level requirements and most of them require mathematics , further mathematics and physics and Computing(which I cannot give as private candidate in India). I have a few questions in my mind:
1.Will I be able to secure admission through A levels or universities or will require my Indian Board Results too?
2.As far as I Know we have to apply to most of the universities by 15th October, but my results are going to come in February. Will that be all right?
3.I read in some UK newspaper that many students with A*A*A*A* got rejected by Kings College London, etc .Do I have to give more A levels to increase my chances of admission?I can only afford to give four -Math , Fur. Math , Physics and Chemistry.
4.How to prepare for A levels as private candidate?Tips , Tricks , Study Material etc
5.How does a gap year affect my admission chances , if I spend it improving my personal Health and studying.I cannot afford to go to Raleigh Expedition or something like that. Moreover Doing Job + EC's +Bringing good grades is real tough nut to crack!
I couldn't really understand forum rules about what I can ask about examinations and what I cannot so please tell me all the things it is permissible to tell.
6.Am I missing anything important that I need to Know?

Thank you for reading this long post and your advises !Thanks!

    Re: Queries about A Level
    1. Either or both would be fine.
    2. This is not true, you only have to apply by this date if you want to apply to Oxbridge or vet/medical/dentist school. You should have something called 'predicted grades', nobody's A-Level results come out before February, indeed A-Level exams aren't until May/June.
    3. More A-Levels do not have any bearing on the offer of a place. They may have got 4A*s but they will have been rejected for any number of reasons. It's not just grades, for somewhere like Oxbridge it may be interview, admissions test taken at/before interview etc.
    5. Many people do gap-years, they can add a little extra something to your application as they show you have been organising things on your own and have been doing something worthwhile. People volunteer abroad or do something else.
You have to be able to show what you've done and make sure it's a good worthwhile experience (i.e. volunteering abroad.) Also unis like Oxbridge really don't care at all about ECs, unless they link to your chosen subject, but they make decisions based purely on academic achievement and potential.

You say you have seen the requirements which is good. Computing isn't really necessary, it can be useful but I'm sure plenty of people do Computer Engineering without it. Just make sure you really thoroughly research everything and good luck
