Harvard combined pHd/JD Questions
Hi everyone!
I'm thinking now about my postgrad options for the year after next (i.e. 2013/14) and one of the things I am considering is applying to Harvard. Before anyone says I should just contact them, I just want to put it out there that I have actually tried to do so to no avail.
Basically, at the moment I study MML (French and Spanish) at Cambridge and I want to pursue a career in law. The combined PhD/JD gives me the chance to pursue my current studies while also doing some law (I am well aware that I will not be qualified to practice in the UK afterwards - it is purely for my personal interest).
I noticed that Harvard also offer a combined JD/LLM with Cambridge. Now, since any combined programme across two school require separate acceptance and application to the two, could I do a combined PhD/JD/LLM?
I then have some questions, like everyone, about the likelihood of me getting in. I appreciate no one can answer them exactly but I would be interested to know if anyone has had success applying for any postgrad programme at Harvard with a 2:1? I expect to get at least this and I really hope I might scrape a 1st but it would be a scrape since I always seem to hover tantalisingly around the 68 mark average. Is there anything I could think about doing over my final year that might help strengthen my application?
Then, finally, about references. If I apply to a combined programme, I could presumably use the same references for both?
Thanks to everyone who reads this.
