    GCSE OCR History Structuring Answers?
I'm doing OCR History: Development Study with Germany on 12th June. (We're doing Crime & Punishment and Germany, not Medicine Through Time.)
And the Crime & Punishment source paper which apparently is going to be on The Rebecca Riots.

My teacher says that we know the stuff but don't really know how to structure our answers. So it'd be really helpful if someone who knows how to structure it could help.
I know that the 5 mark question for Paper 1 is 5 brief points or 2 or 3 points explained. So if someone could tell me the 7 and 8 mark one, I'd appreciate it.

Also in the source paper... I'm completely confused and I've forgotten how it's set up. So if anyone can give me a link to a past source paper and tell me how to structure the answers, I'd appreciate that a lot.

If you have any revision tips too, could you share those? Right now, I'm writing notes but I'm realizing that I probably won't finish them and it might not be going into my brain. I was thinking of watching documentaries.

I'm asking quite a lot here... Even if you can only answer a little section of the questions above, it'd help me a lot. Thanks in advance.

It's been a while since you posted and nobody's replied yet...maybe you should check out MarkedbyTeachers.com, TSR's sister site. It has the largest library of essays in the UK.

They've got over 181,000+ coursework, essays, homeworks etc.. all written by GCSE, A Level, University and IB students across all topics. You get access either by publishing some of your own work, or paying £4.99 for a month's access. Both ways give you unlimited access to all of the essays.

All their documents are submitted to Turnitin anti-plagiarism software, so it can't be misused, and the site's used by hundreds of thousands of UK teachers and students.

What's more, you can take a look around the site and preview the work absolutely free. Click here to find out more...

Hey i'm also sitting this exam but we've had loads of help with structuring answers! Usually it's better to write more than enough and know that you have everything to get full marks! The 7/8 markers are usually comparative questions or ones about how good a certain event/individual was, so for these we've been told to get the most marks you need to argue both sides. First start with a paragraph in favour of the question, include 3-4 points about why this is so and explain well. Next do a paragraph against the question, contradicting it again with 3-4 strong point. Finally do a conclusion summing up your opinion and decision, either 'i think this individual/event/period was more important because..' or 'i do/do not agree with this statement because..' etc

I really hope this helps, but mainly the best thing to do is go back after and see if you can count enough strong point in your answer as the question is asking for! x

Im doing the same exam but I believe for the 8 markers all you need is to pick a side and cross reference to the details of another source- correct me if im wrong

I'm doing Rebecca Riots as well, it really sucks because they are like one page in my textbook. I hate source questions but i am just going to write as much as i can and make original points to 'impress' the examiner. Also, always relate back to other causes of the Rebecca Riots; it wasnt just tollgates. They were unhappy about: unemployment, poverty, high food prices, and felt distanced from magistrates because they spoke welsh

I think everyone has been taught different ways of answering but when we looked at the past paper ways of answering the mark schemes all said they like to see both sides of the answer, and the 8th mark is only given out for your own opinion- but i'm sure as long as you give enough detail you'd get the marks anyway!

Exactly what I was thinking. Hardly got any information on Rebecca Riots in our books, and I don't think there's a lot to learn on it. It's also one of the more boring things that we had to learn about compared to things like highwaymen and suffragettes.

Thanks to everyone who posted an answer.

Naii... pls check out http://godman.co.nr/ where it will tell you how to structure all the source questions... there are example answers too, which you can look at, and an app you can get to revise with.

Just a side point on the last question...if you also consider the reliablity/sufficiency of sources in your answer, you can get up to 2 bonus marks, I.e. get 7/9 for the question, but because you have evaluated at least 2 sources that could be bumped up to 9/9
