How many marks do I need roughly in this paper to get an A overall? Please help!
Just wondering how many marks I need to roughly get in this last chemistry paper to get an A overall?
I have 260 UMS marks from AS, got 74/90 UMS in the january exam and 43/45 raw marks in the coursework (which in terms of UMS is given out of 60). Would be really grateful if someone could give me a rough idea of how many I need to get on the last paper which is out of 120?
Thanks! -
You'll need roughly 100-110UMS marks if the total UMS for the A level is 600UMS. The number of raw marks is dependant on how tough the paper is.(Original post by doctord)

Best tip would be to revise as best as you can and try for full marks, who knows, you might A* Chem =]

A2 = 74 + 57 = 131 UMS
Total to date = 260 + 131 = 391 UMS
Max UMS = 600, and 80%+ for grade A.
UMS required for grade A = 0.8 x 600 = 480 UMS
480 - 391 = 89 UMS required
Final paper is out of 150 UMS and you need 89/150 = 59.4%
120 marks for the paper, so you would required 59.4% of 120 = 72 Marks.
Do better and that A* may yet be yours. Good luck. -

Thank you for replying! That has been really helpful!
Well I found the last exam really difficult so definitely missed the A* but only need an A so praying I haven't lost too many marks, and I'm redoing january's module too, just to see if I can boost my mark.
So if I got a B in the last one it's still possible to get an A overall?
Thanks again
