Re: Latitude
Woop! I was just going to create a latitude thread when I saw this!
It's awesome! I live near to it, so i've been every year since 2007, i think!
Its sooo much fun - as you can tell, I love it. It is expensive though, and it has a reputation for being rather middle class, I've never seen it like that, but thats probably cause I've always gone with school friends (its rather the thing to do over summer in suffolk)... It definately worth it though!
The acts go on musically til about 11ish, but that varies from stage to stage, and theres poetry, literature, theatre and Djs, as well as random other smaller stuff on until the arena closes, at aroung 3 in the morning I think...
It isn't a festival for a person who likes mainstram music, but they do get really good acts and the art arenas are always superb! Its sooo hard to not just spend the whole weekend in the comedy or poetry tents!
Have I sold it to you yet???

Re: Latitude
What's the atmosphere like at Latitude and what types of music and all? And my friends have said they've booked tickets for the tangerine field- how do I get to choose that field when I'm booking tickets?
This is my first festival so I'm wondering what everything is like and all before I book -
Re: LatitudeI'd agree with you almost entirely but I would say that it is very middle class for three reasons.(Original post by RetroRocker)

1. Radio 4 basically moves down their for the weekend
2. They only give out copies of The Times
3. There are almost never any rolling drunks
But I think latitude is awesome!

There were sooo many pissed teenagers the year florence headlined! I would say that it was awful, but it wasn't cause belle and sebastian played that year and it was soooo good!
It is middle class, i guess, i never noticed it much, possibly because I am! Although i never get the Times, I'm a guardian woman!

As far as I know, you just buy a general ticket, and go to the areas once you are there, but don't hold me on that, as I've only ever camped in yellow.. Music is rather varied, some big names, some up and coming and some hidden gems, abscence of urban and metal, although there is a bit of dubstep this year, as its not my cup of tea, I don't mind it though...
Music is only half of it, check out the comedy line up, real cracker this year, and poetrys always great...
hope i've helped!

Re: Latitude
I'm going this year for the first time, am so excited! Just wanted to ask anyone who's been roughly how much money you took along, I haven't been to a 3 day festival since 2006 so I'm a bit rusty when it comes to festival-going.. Do they make a big fuss about BBQs on campsites and bringing in alcohol?

Re: LatitudeTangerine fields is a boutique camping area that you pay a premium for, you have to buy tickets for it or you aren't allowed in! http://www.tangerinefields.co.uk/ The price doesn't include your festival ticket, which must be bought separately.(Original post by boreilly27)
