Re: CCEA AS Biology Unit 1 7th June
It was much better than january.
what answers did people get for..
1. The sex of the mouse
2. Number of haploid chromosomes of mouse
3. Precise stage of meiosis where there is haploid number of chromosomes
4. And for the first question on the paper it said, structure between two adjacent plant cells, i know it is middle lamella but i wrote calcium pectate would i have got the marks?
5. Ratio of A and B -
Re: CCEA AS Biology Unit 1 7th JuneWell it did ask for the structure, the middle lamella is the structure.(Original post by bmalone)

B
The middle lamella's fuction is to hold the two adjacent plant cells together and thats why it's make of calcium pectate as it's sticky!
Unsure if you'd get the mark for it, depends how strick the mark scheme is but i wouldnt call calcium pectate a structure -
Re: CCEA AS Biology Unit 1 7th JuneThats exactly what i was thinking, I hate silly mistakes.(Original post by pursuitofhappiness)

I meant to also ask. What was the product of the hydrolysis of cohesion, that question completely threw me. -

5. Ratio of A and B
2. I put 20, but after coming out of the exam I heard someone say the right answer was 19
3. I guessed Telephase II.
4. Not too sure.
5. I think I had 1:3, although I'm not entirely sure.
What did everyone get for the Food Test question? I had:
A- Protein
B- Simple Sugar/ Reducing sugar -> Glucose
C- Complex Sugar -> Sucrose
D- Complex Sugar -> Maltose
(Not entirely sure if C + D are the right way around
)
Some of the paper was quite nice, the meiosis stuff was a bit meh. On a positive note, there was nothing about a colorimeter! -
Re: CCEA AS Biology Unit 1 7th JuneI got the same answers as you for the food test.(Original post by Mosh)

5. I got 1:3 as well because it was a triglyceride and there was 1 glycerol with 3 fatty acids.
