Have the Olympics become too commercialised?
I'm thinking of doing this topic for a discursive essay. Two questions -

    1) Do you think this is a good topic?
    2) What are your opinions/points for and against the topic?

By becoming 'too commercialised', I mean that sponsorship, branding etc has gone too far and is detracting from the main event and what it's supposed to be about.

    Thanks!

Without the sponsors you will not get the games that we all look forward too, at the moment, even those not interested in sport, (and thats me, don't do sport, except scuba, don't even watch any on TV) Now get interested once every four years.

    1) It'd be a short essay, or a very one-sided rant.

    2) McDonald's and CocaCola, together the antithesis of athleticism, are sponsoring the Olympics. Essay done

We had to learn about commercialisation of Olympics a bit for AS PE, I reckon you could get a good essay out of it.

Welcome to London, City of Beer! Enjoy wonderful England, the traditional home of real ale*.

*please note, no real ale will be available within any Olympic venue or a 2 mile radius of one because of an exclusivity deal signed within Heineken International Corporation. In fact, despite there being over 130 independent breweries within 30 miles of the venue, not one single UK brewed beer will be available at all. Instead Heineken's unique brand of dutch horsepiss will be available at an extremely reasonable £7 a pint.
