    Special Consideration
Hi, my friend collapsed on the day of her first a2 examjune 2012. She was taken to hospital and was kept there for two days. She missed two retakes and. the doctors have told her she must take bed rest for a week. By the time the week is over, all her A level exams will be too. Do you know if she'll be given some special consideration? Will they give her her predicted grades? Does she need to infotm the university she has accepted an offer from? She is very stressed about this so any insight/experiencewould be very appreciated. Thanks

Get the doctor to write a letter and sign it for you to hand into the exams officer at your school, saying that she really must be resting and is currently hospitalised, and will stay that way till her exams are finished. I imagine with something like this she should get the predicted grades that her teachers gave her.

Thanks si much. She is out of hospital now but the doctor has written a note explaining what happened and exactly why she needs 1 week bed rest. I hope they give her the predicted grades.

They won't strictly give her the predicted grades, that is one thing they are based on but they are also based on past results and mock results.

Ohh right so the teachers send off a supporting letter thing? Will she only find out on results day now?

She has to have done at least 1 A2 unit to be able to get special consideration for the rest, but the school's exams officer should have the rules and know what to do. He is the person who will have to collate the evidence and send it off so i suggest the parents of your friend talk to him. Just like everyone else, she will not find out her results until Results Day.

Sorry, i'm kinda in the same boat. I missed both my government and politics exams cause of a virus which means that I have no A2 results. Does that mean I've failed the course?

Hi I'm wondering if anyone can help! I've recently gotten a repetitive strain injury in my left wrist (I'm left handed), sat a2 English language (2 and a half hours) and a2 history (2 hours), after an hour in both exams my wrist was hurting me that much I was nearly crying and couldn't concentrate on what I was writing! I went to the doctors as soon as my history exam was done and I've got a doctors note explaining my situation and the pain I would be in... Do you think id get special consideration? (I've done coursework for both a levels and got a C and a B) x

Special consideration is applied for per exam, so just the unit(s) affected by the circumstances, whether you are taking them for the first or the nth time.

Hey, I was wondering if my illness today was enough to apply for special consideration for my philosophy exam. I took the exam but had chest pain throughout the exam and my lungs were burning when I took breaths. (I think I have a chest infection)

As well as this, I became partially deaf, all the sounds were muffled as if my ears were blocked and I was dizzy too.

I was just wondering if that type of illness is enough or I needed to have something really serious.

    Thanks in advance

It should be sufficient. You need to talk to your exams officer asap.

Hi, Had an exam this afternoon but before that I was experiencing pain in upper back around the neck the since last night, went to see the doctors in the morning before the exam and she gave me neck brace and a few medications to take, some which would make me drowsy but I didn't take these for obvious reason (didn't want to fall asleep in the exam).. I was in quite a bit of pain throughout, also set in a separate room for the exam too in case it got unbearable and I'd disturb others, am I eligible for special consideration you think?

Probably - you need to talk to your exams officer who will know the regs and have all your details.
