I didn't notice a thread for this, and thought it might be a good idea if we shared some tips and ideas etc in preparation for this exam. Things like key vocab and ideas/nice facts for the essay, and grammar questions are welcome too of course.

Which topics are you guys revising for, for the essay? I'm doing environment (renewable energy/nuclear power), immigration/integration, unemployment, and since I also do A2 Biology, I might prepare some stuff in case something about genetics comes up.

Hoping the essays are better than some of the ones from recent past papers too (like the one about problems with water in Germany, for example). If something on nuclear power comes up I'll be very happy.

I've literally only prepared a topic for the immigration/integration stuff and i have this weird feeling unemployment will come up....ah

But there's two questions for social issues so I doubt they could both be on umemployment

Ah yeah true dat..hmmm never thought about that. Maybe because I only ever attempt essay style questions as opposed to those..."write an article..."

So what did you guys think? I thought it was okay... quite tricky, I didn't breeze through it, but I was never really stumped. I'm just worried I've made some stupid mistakes...it was my second exam today and I didn't sleep well last night, and I know you can easily drop marks for not using dative or messing up word order or whatever.

Was quite happy with my essay, it was what I did my oral on so I was well prepared for it.

TBH I thought the essay was a godsend - Q12 - the one about Energie und erneuerbare Energiequellen. I think I did well on that. Listening not too bad, the gap fill on Q3 stumpted me a bit but otherwise it was okay! Same, my oral was on energy, so managed to get a fair few stats from that into it...

Yep, that's what I did for my oral too! Couldn't have asked for a better question. I was really quite unprepared for anything else (might have done alright with a Berlin Wall one) so I'm really very thankful about it.
