I regretting choosing a wrong university for my insurance......
Hello everyone, here is my problem.

I chose my firm and insurance long time ago and now I am really regretting of choosing a wrong university for my insurance choice. I chose actuarial science at city university for my insurance choice and now I don't want to go there anymore even if I accomplish their requirements. I declined MORSE at Warwick in the earlier time and now I want to there since the requirement of my firm choice is quite difficult for me and I have high possibility of going to my insurance choice. What should I do now? I don't want to reapply it because of this.

You can't really do anything at the moment - you accepted City as your insurance, and if you don't get your firm choice grades but meet their requirements, you'll automatically have a place there. However, if this happened and you really did not want to go to City, you could ask them on results day to release you. You'd then go into Clearing, but the likelihood of Warwick's MORSE course being there is very low I'm afraid.

Just wait until results day and see what happens .

Thanks for your advice. Hope that I can get into my firm choice / MORSE exists in Clearing.

You're welcome. Exactly, you don't know how your exams have really gone until results day - you might have done better than you think you have!

If you ask to be removed from City's course it could take hours or even days for it to be processed. This will make clearing a lot more difficult as there will be fewer courses on offer.

If you are sure that you don't want to go to City university then you should ask them to remove their offer long before results day.

Unfortunately, that is pretty much the only option. You can get released from your insurance (and in fact, I would arrange that now rather than on results day, in case something promising comes up in Clearing and therefore you would be in a position to start applying if you do miss your firm) ... but the chances of Warwick MORSE being in Clearing are practically nil. I would say nil, but hardly anything in life is completely impossible; however, it is so close to being impossible that, for all purposes, it is.

I agree with the above. If you are 100% positive that you would rather go into Clearing or reapply next year than go to your insurance then get rid of your insurance NOW. Then if you don't get into your firm you will automatically be in Clearing and can look for a place somehwhere else. You can start researching unis now that you would be interested in if they are in Clearing. Bear in mind you may not end up at Warwick though, so only do it if you would rather reapply next year than end up at your current insurance this year.

If you wait until results day you'll find that if you end up at your insurance and have to ask them to release you that it won't be at the top of their list of priorities. They will be focusing on getting more students in to fill places first so and it could take up to a week for you to actually be released from your place. In this time you may have missed out on unis you wanted to go to because someone else got them first, since a uni can't consider you in Clearing until you have been officially released and have your clearing number.

Ring UCAS, ask if you can change your insurance choice - in the past you could change responses with permission fro both of the Unis you want to change (your current insurance and the one you want instead). If they still do this, you'll need to check with the Unis that it's OK
