Is the music industry agest? Thoughts?

Is the music industry agest? Thoughts?The music industry may only focus on younger audiences as their more capable of getting music in the fastest ways. However older audiences are still a big market, but perhaps the industries doesn't see them as capable on managing their own music collection because their 'old'?
Has the media stereotyped the elderly into something their not? and does this effect all (if not most) industries and causing less interest for older audiences, driving away a big potential market?
Thought?
