    Biology or Natural Sciences
I'm really confused as to what course i should do, i originally wanted to read natural sciences but am mostly interested in doing biology. if i did natural sciences i would choose the biology, earth sciences and maths modules so it seems like it would make more sense to apply to do biology or biological sciences.

I'm possibly going to apply to Cambridge and understand they only offer natural sciences but am considering studying biology at universities such as Nottingham or Durham.

    Any help would be appreciated,
    Thanks!

    Re: Biology or Natural Sciences
If you want to keep your options open then Natural Sciences is a better bet however it does tend to have a higher entry requirement that straight biology except for Oxford and Cambridge.
My daughter was in the same position as you. It is difficult but very possible to write a personal statement that will cover both. It is useful to have something like an EPQ to back up your main interest too.
My daughter applied and got offers for Oxford (Biology) A*AA, Durham (Natural Sciences Biology and Physics A*AA), Bath (Natural Sciences Biology and Physics A*AA) Nottingham (Natural Sciences Biology, Maths and Physics AAA or AABB) and St Andrews (Biology AAB)
If you think you would only take Biology modules then just apply for that however if you feel like you may want to study a more diverse course with the option to take a different route then go for the Natural Sciences.
When you apply to Cambridge you are interviewed in either Natural Sciences (Biological) or Natural Sciences (Physical) and you need to select which one you want. Some of the modules are not compatible with each other and the entrance requirements differ so do check out the course and requirements.
I hope you come to a decision. It is good to get to the open days too and try and book a visit to a college and the department to really get a feel for it.
My daughter was set on Cambridge till she went to the open day at Oxford and fell in love with it!
Everyone will have a different view on what suits them best.
A number of Unis now offer Natural sciences and it is popular and sought after by employers for the broadness of the course. Some also offer a year abroad or in Industry so worth checking them all out.
