    Economics at University
Hiya, I am an AS student choosing my uni course and I was just wondering what is the major difference between economics and Business Economics?

Does Business economics usually involve less maths?

    Thanks

In very general terms, business economics is basically just applied microeconomics combined with broader business studies. Generally, the maths in this course would be less difficult than the maths and statistics in an Economics degree, although there would probably be the same amount of maths. Economics on it's own is quite a rigorously academic subject, whereas business economics is more vocational. I would encourage you to do just economics on it's own. When it comes down to versatility in the world of finance and business, economics is going to be of more help, plus it is a prestigious degree favoured by employers. But it is your choice, business economics may suit you better. My personal belief is that an economics degree would give you a better education.

^ Thank you very much for your advice! I see, the reason I was thinking about Business economics is because I do study maths at AS level however, it is not my strongest subject. Therefore, I was thinking of Business Economics? However, I thought Business Economics has a more variety of job careers than to just Economics on its own? I do enjoy economics at AS level. Thanks again!
