Potential New Student at Bath Spa
Hi, am hoping to come to Bath Spa Uni in September studying a comined course in Dance and Educational Studies. I have chosen Newton Park as my first choice so I should be living there. I live about 6 hours away and I don't know anyone who is going. Am looking to meet a few people over this. So is anyone studying these courses? Or living in Newton Park Campus?

Re: Potential New Student at Bath Spa
hey I'm hopefully going to bath spa in september. I'm actually going tomorrow to the open day to look round properly.
Ive put newton as my first choice but after seeing the new prices slightly hoping for waterside instead.
Did you put down a prefence for single or mixed flats, i said I didn't care.
Oh and I'm going to study history

Re: Potential New Student at Bath Spa
Hey I no longer care about prices after looking round waterside and chalfont (Ithink thats the right name) yesterday I hated them both, they dont get cleaners even for the kitchens you have to spend an extra £200 on internet for the year plus a bus pass cost around £90 a term. And the rooms looked smaller as well.
Ive gone ensuite so if I get Newton it will be sydney halls which I really liked.
And the construction isnt as bad as I thought it be, they wernt working yesterday so I couldnt say about noise, the students said they wernt to fussed.
I really cant wait to get started now.Last edited by Allymc; 10-06-2012 at 07:34. -
Re: Potential New Student at Bath Spa
Ohh god, that's quite bad isn't it.
Am quite confused, I thought that the Newton park was one building like everyone lived there. (You said you will be living in the sydney halls, so does this mean there's a few buildings with different names in Newton Park?)
I didn't really look at the accomidation so I don't know what's best. I didn't choose ensuite either, and am thinking now maybee I should have haha -
Re: Potential New Student at Bath Spa
Yer at Newton theres nine diffrent residences but one of them Hungerford is being knocked down in the construction.
theres:
Hiscocks
Harington
Temple and Temple house
Langton
Pope
Nevill
which are all shared bathroom
and then sydney which is all ensuite.
But I was told there is only like 30 places in sydney so the chance of geting it is slim.
I did look around some of the non-ensuite rooms I think I saw Harington which i liked apart from sharing a bathroom. The rooms were a decent size and so was the kitchens and it had a really nice courtyard outside.

Re: Potential New Student at Bath Spa
The dead line for accomadation applications is the 6th july and I was told give them 4 days after that date if they havent emailed you with your information by then get in contact with them.
In the email it should tell you campus, hall type, room number. And most stuff like moving in dates will be posted in welcome packs.
This is all going on what they told me saturday.
No I don't live in Bath, would very much like to hence one of my reasons on choice in uni, I live in London, it takes me a little over 2 hours to get to the uni campus.

Re: Potential New Student at Bath Spa
Hii
ohh yes Musical Theater is right down my street and am also thinking about changing to Creative Writing too. As far as societies, I haven't really got a clue about them haha but I do know there is a Glee club and on freshers week they set up like a freshers fair with loads of societies there

Re: Potential New Student at Bath Spa
I sent my accomadation application around march to but we all find out the same time.
I went to the june 9th open day to have a better look and the housing service women I spoke to said the dead line is the 6th of june and we should hear back from them a couple days after.
But if you havent heard back from them after 4 days after deadline contact them. -
Re: Potential New Student at Bath Spa
I'll be going for music and art on the creative arts program. I applied for independant housing but i'm not really sure what the outcome will be, or how they allocate. Didn't really fancy the halls myself for the same price as a shared house, and halfway between the two campuses (can't be many who will be at both though). But just not sure about the allocation of it, and little information on how much i have to do myself!

Re: Potential New Student at Bath Spa
I also do not have a clue about accomodation, i only chose Newton Park because i live mile away and there will be loads more people who are in the same situation and it would be easier to make friends. If your not sure i would ring the university as the whole independant housing thing looks tricky.
