    Economics reading list
I'm looking at writing my personal statement for economics, and I now see that I ought to start looking into some books... I've read Freakonomics and the The Armchair Economist, but these seem to appear in almost every personal statement I've read online! Any ideas on what other, possibly less popular, books I could read to show I've read around my subject, but still understandable to someone who has only done AS level economics so far?!

    Cheers,
    Will

    Re: Economics reading list
You'd want to start reading something a little more serious, you'll grasp the concepts along the way, IF you have a genuine interest in the subject and are willing to spend some time reading the books. Depends also on what interests you most in economics, pure theory? finance? business?

Ill give you a few titles in each from my rather vast collection (it should be made a lot less easy to impulsively buy things on Amazon!)

Economics (Pure): Robert Skidelsky - The Return Of The Master

Finance (my area of particular interest):
[Easy Mode] The Big Short (Michael Lewis)
[Medium mode] Too Big To Fail (Andrew Ross Sorkin)
[Hard Mode] Traders, Guns and Money (Satyajit Das)

Business (a past interest of mine): How They Started (David Lester)

    Prosperity without growth- Tim Jackson
Is a good choice as it gives an alternate view on macroeconomic policy

Thank you! I have just purchased "The Return Of The Master" and "Prosperity without growth"! Hopefully I'll understand it and have time to read them...
