Re: cancer research scientistWell since you say scientist, I'm assuming you mean non-clinical, so:(Original post by madmadmax321)
what degree would I need to become a cancer research scientist?
I know i will need a PhD but what under graduate degree would I need?
thanks
Degree in a life sciences subject e.g. biomedical sciences, biochemistry, genetics etc
Masters degree not strictly necessary, but well regarded: in cancer biology or related fields e.g. genetics, cancer therapeutics, molecular pathology, etc.
PhD in relevant area of cancer biology -
Re: cancer research scientist
Biochemistry/Molecular Biology undergraduate courses will probably be the most beneficial to you, I did Bsc Molecular Genetics and now i'm in the midst of a cancer-based PhD. You'll want to look over each university syllabus and check to make sure you will be having modules in cancer, molecular genetics, cell-signalling, cell-cycle and it's control, general cellular/molecular biology, things like this
