    Typewriters
    Does anyone have one?

Maybe a stupid question but can you still buy them new? Where is the best place to get one? What are the nicer makes? I really want one but my family will think it's pointless so I need to figure it out first so they can't give me their opinions! Oh and if you do have one, does it take up a lot of desk space?

You can still get them, although modern versions of them. I'm not sure why you'd want one of the older ones, and you'll not be able to get a new one of those.

I don't really see the point in them these days, but I guess you must have your reasons?

    Check Google out.

My mate has one he barely uses, it's so much hassle and stuff, we all just like to look at it really and then we all just talk about Hunter S Thompson

I've had a look and the modern versions are ugly so I will be getting an old one. Thanks for the help

eBay for the older versions. I bought my sister an Underwood one from the 1920's and it still works- and looks awesome, you just have to buy the (is is called 'ribbon'?) which has the ink.

I have my mum's old one, apart from the ribbon broke (it had been in there since the '70s though...). There's some beautiful ones on ebay. There's also USB typewriters, so you can use it as a keyboard

    Prepare for aching fingers though.

I used to have a manual one when I was younger, and I borrowed my mam's electric one a few times. Not any more though, got a computer so there's not much point, but I do rather like typewriters.

tnedutS waL - yes typewriters take ribbon.

Always a good idea to have some tippex paper handy too for typewriters!

    (yes, tippex PAPER)

if they still make the stuff.
