Is MotoGP journalism hard to get into?
How hard do you think it would be to break into the MotoGP paddock as a journalist? Specifically I want to be a broadcast journalist, but would I have to start of in MotoGP print journalism or research and then work my way to the top?

    Anyone have any ideas??

I'm not too clued up on motogp as a whole, but I'd imagine yes - as are most motoring journalist positions - because who doesn't want to make a living writing about motorsports that they enjoy?

As Alex said, your best bet is to start small to build up your portfolio, try and attend local races and events and do write ups and reports, even if they're only going on your blog.

Read as many motogp articles as you can, as I've found that the best way to develop your writing style is to study others and emulate to a certain extent, get a feel for the way those articles are generally written. When I was studying journalism I found that a good test was to compare my articles to those in whatever publication I was interested in and ask myself, realistically would mine get published?

Again, I don't know what motorcycle publications there are out there, but once you've got a good selection of articles perhaps send some emails around, express an interest and ask if you could come in for a few weeks work experience.

My only other advice would be to keep your doors open, don't strictly limit yourself to motogp, many journalists will have developed their skills in other areas and then moved into the area that they want to work in.
