    ... why?
I thought they might be a bit more lavish?

They tend to be hairier with more of a greyish tint.

As facaetious as my answer is - if you think about it; it is probably about as much use as any other answer you could hope to get to this question.

Not in this forum you didn't. In your three threads on this non-issue you basically got two wiseass remarks about the male anatomical feature rhyming with 'pollocks'

Why the giggles? I'm being serious - isn't that why you're applying to Cambridge? Afterall, the May Balls there are, like, totally legendary.

:nah: Most people apply to Cambridge for the punting and the proximity to Milton Keynes, I believe.

Well, that is what I told people so they wouldn't think I had a silly reason. The real reason is so I can wear a gown and pretend I'm in Harry Potter.

It is to my shame that every time I've been to formal hall, I've wanted to do that. sadly, as I was never a student, I didn't get to wear a gown *le sob*

My friend just got a JRF at King's, and has promised to invite me to formal and sit on the high table. I asked if I could call the Master of the college Prof Dumbledore, and I think she's thinking of un-inviting me....ahem.

Well, tell her you promise you won't call him that! Don't mention, though, that you will be bringing an owl with you.

hahahahaha, so tempting. I'll have a guinea pig by then...maybe I'll be allowed to take him with me. though, then the HP ref wouldn't be obvious, and I'd just look like a weirdo with a guinea pig... because obviously I wouldn't look weird if I had an owl.

This is so not getting any work done

I went to Cambridge to give a talk once and I was given accomodation in one of the colleges and had breakfast in the grand formal hall thing and it was pretty cool. They even had dudes in formal attire bringing tea and coffee and soforth. I can't remember if it was out of term time or I just got up late but I think I was the only one there too.

Well actually there was another guy with me who was also talking at the same event but we had it to ourselves which was pretty amusing.

Sorry, I just have to check: this is not seriously going to be a factor in a decision on whether or not to undertake postgrad study, is it?
