Mumps
There's been a case of the mumps going round my GFs house and although she has avoided them as much as possible she has, in the last couple of days, been in contact with someone who is still contagious.
Am i right in thinking it takes about 20days for the symptoms to appear? The trouble with this is it would fall slap bang in the middle of our holiday together so what i wanted to know is a) if she did get it while on holiday would she be allowed to fly back b) Can it be detected by a doctor before the symptoms appear?
Note: yes she has had her MMR jab but then so did her house mates who caught it. -

Re: Mumps
Nonspecific symptoms of low-grade fever, headache, muscle aches (myalgia), reduced appetite, and malaise occur during the first 48 hours of mumps infection. Parotid gland swelling characteristically is present on day three of illness.
You do not have to worry since the symptoms appear within 2 days of infection
